Job Description

A Value Stream Manager (VSM) oversees a specific sequence of processes and activities within the manufacturing and depot operations that deliver a product or service to customers, known as a value stream. The role focuses on optimizing these processes to maximize value, minimize waste, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. The VSM is responsible for managing cross-functional teams, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the value stream operates efficiently and effectively. This role can apply to various industries and value streams, such as manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or technical services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the value stream, including production, quality, safety, cost, and delivery schedules, to ensure seamless operations.
  • Identify and eliminate non-value-adding activities, improving efficiency and customer satisfaction through lean principles or similar methodologies.
  • Supervise and mentor front-line supervisors and cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and building diverse, high-performing teams.
  • Drive process enhancements by implementing changes, leveraging data, and adopting innovative practices to increase value delivery.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute plans that align the value stream with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure material availability, workforce capacity, and operational schedules are aligned to meet production or service goals.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in operations, manufacturing, or a related field and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of earned value.
  • Proficiency in enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Prism, or equivalent) for managing operations and data.
  • Expertise in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and earned value management.
  • Ability to build teams with diverse skillsets and adapt to varying operational demands.
  • Strong communication to coordinate teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office Suite for planning and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex workflows and priorities.
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
